Elk Hunt in Wyoming
The outfitter for this Wyoming Elk hunt offers two different hunting camps, both of which are rich with elk in the area. If you are looking for a rugged, sleep under the stars type of hunt, then you will definitely want to book their Wilderness Camp. This camp is located in elk area 51 in Northwest Wyoming and is just outside of Yellowstone Park. There is a 5 hour horseback ride to get to get into camp. Once there, tent camp accommodations are provided as are three meals a day. On this hunt the outfitter will help you strive to harvest a 6 point or better bull. They have had 3 bulls taken from this camp that made the All Time Boone and Crockett record book harvest. This is a 7-day hunt.
If tent camping isn't quite your style, then you will to book their Ranch Camp. This camp is located in elk area 7 and easily accessed by vehicle. You will be staying in the ranch bunkhouse or in travel trailer accommodations and three meals a day are provided. Access to the various hunting areas is done by horseback. It is not uncommon to see a large amount of elk on this hunt regardless of whether it is archery or rifle season. The majority of the elk taken from this camp are six point bulls with an average running of 310 B&C. They often harvest bulls around 330 with an occasional 350 plus bull coming into camp. Archery season in this camp is phenomenal! They have been running this camp for over 7 years and in that time, they have never had a hunter, archer or rifle, not get a shot at this camp. The terrain on this hunt is not nearly as steep and physical as with their Wilderness Camp. This is a 7 day hunt.
Regardless of which camp you choose, the gene pool in the area is some of the best free ranging elk in North America.
Archery season is in September and Rifle season is in October.
Note on Archery Hunts: Archery elk hunts are done in both camps. Over the past 25 plus years, several or their archery hunters have taken home trophy bull elk. And several of the elk were entered into the Pope and Young record books. The outfitter hand-selects highly experienced archery guides and does a lot of the guiding himself. These guides are great callers and experienced archers as well.
With Wyoming they use a point system for drawing a tag. You will need at least 13 points for this hunt.
