Himalayan Tahr Hunt in New Zealand
New Zealand's Himalayan Tahr is a highly sought after trophy animal. These animals live in the most remote part of the Southern Alps making difficult to hunt. Because of the rough terrain and unpredictable weather, you will be transported by helicopter to the remote valleys for this hunt.
The strict game management done by the outfitter ensures that every hunter has an outstanding chance of harvesting a quality trophy.
Tahr rut from May to early July and during this time mature bulls with have long winter coats. They can be hunted mid February to August.
This is a 5-day, 4-night hunt at one of the finest lodges in New Zealand. It is located in the remote Ahuriri Valley, situated among some of the most spectacular mountain scenery. The lodge provides superb accommodations and offers daily laundry service, an open bar, cable tv, internet, and incredible meals. This is all included with any hunting package.

2x1 option is based on 2 hunter sharing one large room with an attached bathroom. 1x1 guiding is available for an additional $1,500
Non-hunter/observers are welcome for an additional fee of $300 per night.
Trophy preparation/expediting is approximately $300-$350 per trophy depending on the type of mount.
**On Tahr hunts we recommend using a helicopter to access the higher hunting grounds in the mountains. A helicopter will cost an additional $3,500 and is optional, but highly recommended.
