    Elk Archery Hunt in Montana with Tri Mountain Outfitters

    Tri Mountain Outfitters is located in South Central Montana in the Big Belt Mountains.  They currently lease 50,000 acres from a privately owned working cattle ranch in one of the main rutting and wintering grounds for elk and mule deer in the area. They offer both archery and rifle elk hunts and give you the option to add either a deer to your hunt.  
     
    Their elk hunts are 5-days, with Saturday arrival and Friday departure. This is a fair chase hunt, expect a lot of spotting, glassing and stalking with 2x1 guiding.  There is an option to upgrade to 1x1 guiding with prior arrangements and for an additional fee.  4-wheel drive crew cabs and suburbans are used to travel the acreage, enabling just about anyone, regardless of age or physical condition, to hunt. NOTE: You will need to have Montana license/permit for this hunt. 
     
    Archery season opens in early September and runs through mid October.  This is an excellent time for elk hunting in Montana as it coincides with the elk rut and bugling season.  In the past few years this outfitter has averaged 95% on shots under 30 yards.

    Please note you will need to purchase a hunting license for this hunt.  All non-resident hunting license will be sold through a drawing process. All license applications must filled out and submitted online as they are no longer accepting paper applications. You can apply March 1 to April 1.  We recommend purchasing  preference points to increase your odds of drawing. See Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks website or additional information. MT FWP
