Elk Rifle Hunt in New Mexico
This Elk hunt takes place in Western New Mexico in Unit 12. The outfitter has controlled access to over 500,000 acres of ranch land. Hunting begins in October during the rut and ends in December. The rifle elk hunts are done in the high desert terrain at approximately 7500' up in the timberline. It is one of the easier hunts physically. The price for this hunt will vary depending on the dates chosen. See date and price list below.
With the rut taking place in October, the odds of getting a trophy bull are high. It is typically the most popular time for elk hunting as permits draws are high. November and December are considered late season hunts. The elk are typically in bachelor groups around this time. Both rut and late season hunts have a high success and there are unique advantages to hunting during either season.
There are only a few remaining dates available for 2023. Now booking 2024 dates as well.

Not included:
- New Mexico license $637
- Sales tax of 5.125%
- 1x1 guiding can be done for an additional $1,500 to $2,000 depending on the hunting dates.
This outfitter does have a Wounding Policy on all hunts. Any animal wounded is considered harvested and you must either recover the animal or spend the remainder of the hunt attempting to harvest it.
