Moose Hunt in Alaska
Moose hunting season begin in September when they are moving into their fall grounds and beginning their rut. This area has lots of ridges and ponds that sometimes causes a natural funnel we moose will concentrate. These areas are ideal for large bulls and their harems to inhabit.
A bush plane will transport you into their rutting area to begin your hunt. Most of this hunt is done on foot as the areas the large bulls are in are mostly inaccessible by any other means. Hunting is done by spot and stalk and calling. there will be some use o spike maps where elevations and terrain provide good visibility of the area.
This is a 10 day hunt but additional days can be added for $1080 per day. It is recommended adding a few extra days especially if you make this a combination hunt. This is fully guided with 1x1 guide services.
The price for this hunt includes meals at camp, sleeping accommodations in the field, transportation including bush plane flights and expert care of meat and trophies. The outfitter will transport your trophies to Anchorage at the end of the season at no charge and meat is transported to Healy.
Not included in the price are taxidermy or meat processing, license, tags or any meals or lodging while in transit to camp.
Non-resident hunting license is $170, non-resident foreigner is $600. You will need a tag for each animal hunted as well, prices are as follows (non-resident foreigner tags are slightly higher) :
- Brown bear/grizzly bear $1000
- Black Bear $450
- Dall Sheep $850
- Moose $800
- Caribou $650
Hunting schedule is as follows:
- Brown/Grizzly Bear - April 1 to June 15 and August 1 to October 30
- Black Bear May 1 to June 10 and August 10 to October 10
- Dall Sheep August 7 to September 20
- Moose September 1 to September 25
